Holy Hoppin’ Hell – ABV 9.7%

Made with Citra and Pacific Gem hops, this in-your-face Imperial IPA goes big on grassy and floral aromas with a malty caramel sweetness in the taste.

Look: Murky amber-brown colour with a decent cream head.

Aroma: Floral, fruity and grassy with plenty of creamy caramel.

Taste: Subtle pine and grass with some crisp bitterness riding on dark malt and some caramel chewiness.

Verdict: Watch out with this sneaky fruity chap. The ABV is 9.7% is very well disguised and it’ll creep on you and before you know it you’ll be screaming the beer’s name.

Gumball – ABV 9.4%

BB date: 26/12/2017 but still tastes great!

Centennial, Motueka and Galaxy hops bundle together to make a big-hitting hoppy aromas, a fruity and boozy taste and a finishing floral flourish.

Look: Hazy orange amber, good pale cream colour head and moderate carbonation.

Aroma: Hops left, right and centre with some pine, zesty lemon and orange and candied fruits.

Taste: The taste is much creamier than the accented aroma might suggest, with smooth malts and a creamy mouthfeel. Still plenty of fruit and spice going on with floral notes to end.

Verdict: Packed full of hops, floral fruit and has bags of character. Bold, sweet and colourful – just like a gumball, really…

Five O’Clock Shadow – ABV 7.3%

This American IPA is brimming with Summit, Apollo and Columbus hops so it’s bold strong and uncompromising – just like a real American cowboy.

Look: Hazy gold with a nice foamy off-white head and strong lacing.

Aroma: Big citrus notes straight out of the gate with grapefruit, orange and lemon zest; some resinous, piney tones and hoppy crispness.

Taste: The CaraRed and Munich malts start to take the lead with toast and biscuit notes but still plenty of citrus sweetness.

Verdict: Weird Beard encouraged us to embrace our inner cowboy with this one. So, quite simply, yee haw.
